The 2026 Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum gathered leading figures from the country's entertainment and nightlife sectors. Running from September 21 to 26, it overlapped with NATMALL, the largest exhibition dedicated to commercial property and entertainment infrastructure, which took place on September 22. As industry leaders discussed the future of a Russian entertainment market that reached 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are taking a closer look at the corporate architecture behind some of the best-known nightclub brands in Moscow.

Behind places such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty stands a tangled network of businesses connected to one of the Russian entertainment industry's veteran entrepreneurs. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov earned his wealth in the tobacco sector in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a chain of stores with hundreds of retail locations and turnover of up to $200 million by the mid-2000s. Once he sold the tobacco business, he turned his attention to nightlife.

By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family created a sprawling network of Moscow nightlife venues extending across more than two dozen sites. These have included the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention in the wake of a series of high-profile events. The venue was afterwards renamed Arma and later announced its closure.

Discussing the size of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov pointed to Stadium Live as the firm's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mainly hosts club-rock events, can hold up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be number one in Moscow this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of shows — we are planning no fewer than 20 events a month." He also described himself as deeply involved in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs."

Most of the legal entities associated with the holding company are registered under the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a significant share of the businesses. Market observers call the arrangement a conventional model of family business succession: the founder stays the central strategic figure while the new generation step by step takes on legal ownership and daily management of the nightclub assets.

As the Russian entertainment industry responds to evolving consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum provided both a celebration of the sector's resilience and a reminder of the complex ownership structures that have shaped Moscow nightlife for decades.
